Holiday-Neutral Decorations To Spice Up Your Home

The holiday season is a celebration of many cultures. However, decorating for the holidays can be difficult if you don’t celebrate Christmas. Growing up celebrating Hanukkah, my family refrained from putting up decorations and lights. Ever since I moved to D.C., I’ve been finding ways to decorate my dorms and apartments in ways that are holiday-neutral, or representative of the winter season in general rather than one specific holiday. Here’s what I’ve come up with!

A good holiday-neutral color palette to stick with is green and white. Garlands and knitted decor are great aesthetic choices to showcase the holiday spirit. Hang them on your wall or above the fireplace if you have one to replace the commonly used pine garland.

Traditionally, Christmas lights are bright white or colored, so why not spice up your home with rose gold or copper lights? The globe lights I have attached below will provide a warm hue that will cozy up any part of your home without feeling Christmas-y.

Snow is holiday-neutral, so any snowy decor is a staple to make your home feel like a winter wonderland. Specifically, a winter bouquet can make a statement in your home. Start with some evergreen or pine sprigs and layer them up with pinecones, white flowers and eucalyptus to curate the perfect holiday-neutral centerpiece.

Swap a Christmas tree with a birch tree to enhance the winter feeling in your home. Use them indoors or outdoors to provide light on cold winter nights!

No holiday vibe is complete without candles. Mix in some battery-operated options with your candles to create a cozy feeling (and avoid the headache of multiple scents). Personally, I love shopping for candles at TJ Maxx. My favorite winter scents at the moment are Sippin’ Cider and White Pumpkin.
