When my friends and I decided to get together for brunch recently, I made it my mission to find a fun, new spot for us to try. As most GW students know, Sette Osteria and Mission are two easy spots for brunch. But, this time around, I wanted to switch it up. A friend of mine recently recommended Lyle’s Restaurant, a posh, eclectic gem located right in the heart of Dupont Circle. Attached to the Lyle Hotel, the restaurant opened its doors in 2021 and has been a fan favorite ever since (apparently I’m late to the game!).
As soon as we entered, I was instantly intrigued by Lyle’s art deco interior design. Shell-shaped booths are nestled along the walls and fun restoration hardware-style white fluffy couches occupy the center of the restaurant. With a large glass ceiling, natural light fills the room, making it the perfect place to capture a nice photo or two.
We attended the Saturday brunch at 11:45, in addition to offering bottomless bubbles and bloody mary’s, they also have a live DJ come play every weekend. The upbeat atmosphere made for a good time filled with high energy and lots of laughs from customers.
The three of us came to brunch with three hearty appetites, so we quickly got into it and chose to opt out of the “Lite Bites” and instead pick from the “Mains” section of the menu. Two of us ordered the omelet while the third ordered the French toast.
My overall rating of our food is a 10/10. My omelet was filled with goat cheese and herbs (with a side of avocado that I ordered separately) and mixed greens, the flavors were delectable. The smooth, whipped goat cheese in the center made this omelet unlike others that I’ve had, and the portion served was the perfect size to satisfy my hunger. My friend pleased her sweet tooth with the french toast which was drizzled with Nutella, whipped cream and caramelized bananas. While I personally didn’t get the opportunity to try her dish, I can happily report she thoroughly enjoyed her meal and would absolutely get it again.
Whether your next occasion is a small get together with friends or a celebratory graduation brunch with the family, Lyle’s is the spot for you. Next up on the list for me is The Fainting Goat and Lapis, so I will be back with new reviews shortly!
