Call Your Mother (CYM) – the popular and beloved Jew-ish deli – is adding a sixth location to the DMV, located inside the Yours Truly Hotel in West End. The inventive bagel shop is taking over its sister restaurant, Mercy Me, according to a CYM press release.

The new location will offer “homemade, signature bagels, creative sandwiches and nostalgic pastries,” according to the release. Co-owner and founder Andrew Dana explained his reasons for adding a location to West End: it gets attention from college students, offices and employees, residents and tourists.

The cozy and modern interior will remain the same as the original Mercy Me space. For now, CYM’s hours of operation are 8am-2pm, and Starting Feb. 1, they will extend to 7am-4pm. “The Mercy Me dinner and brunch hours remain,” CYM explained in an email.

The CYM menu has exciting special sandwiches that elevate the typical bacon, egg and cheese you know and love. Using ingredients like latkes, nacho jalapeño cream cheese, raspberry guava jam, granola, fritos and more, Call Your Mother brings new flavors to the West End community. The menu is expansive, offering typical bagel sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, different “schmearz and fixin’s,” sides, drinks, and sweets.

The new CYM location may draw attention towards the Mercy Me dinner menu as well. Classic dishes like burrata are taken to the next level with spring pea puree and basil oil. The menu offers a plethora of options for everyone: snacks, small and large plates, desserts and an extensive cocktail menu (for those over 21).

The goals of the new CYM location are to interact with the diverse mix of individuals in the neighborhood and assist Yours Truly in fostering “a unique hotel experience.”

CYM said that public reaction has been positive, supportive and overall amazing. GW Senior Brittany Hughes explained how she was looking forward to its proximity to GW, and how she’s excited that the walk to get a CYM bagel is much closer than the Georgetown location – her trek narrows from 30 to 15 minutes.

“I’m also super excited that it’s actually attached to the hotel,” Hughes said. “There’s [now] tables to sit and eat at!”

Mercy Me’s café, however, will be missed. “I really enjoyed the South American style pastries, so I’m definitely going to miss that,” said sophomore Erin Bernheim.

The South American inspiration remains on the Mercy Me dinner menu, allowing restaurant visitors to still explore and try exciting dishes.

Call Your Mother has high hopes for its new location and is ready to serve the West End community. “We’re excited to be open, so everyone can come by,” CYM said.

Call Your Mother’s West End location is open now, so stop by to try it for yourself!
